Please see a competent rabbi or talk to any guests you are having before trying to cook in a non-kosher kitchen for someone that keeps kosher.

Breads

Kosher breads such as challah, bagels, rye etc. may be obtained at some stores.  Examples are Lender’s bagels, some Trader Joe’s bagels, and Levy’s Rye.

Snack foods

Common kosher brands include Entenmanns cakes and donuts (they now have a few that are not kosher so look for the OU-D), Bachman’s pretzels, Ruffles potato chips, etc. Many cookies are now kosher — just look for the hechsher (see below)  Hebert’s fudge is kosher in most varieties (not any with marshmallows

Produce

Fresh fruits and vegetables are always kosher.  Processed or dried fruits, vegetables, and nuts require a kosher symbol.  Sun Maid raisins are kosher.  Bagged salads must have kosher symbol.

Cheese

There are cheeses available which are kosher by traditional standards. Many soft cheeses such as cream cheese and mozzarella have a kosher symbol (OU-D is the most frequent).  Miller’s, Golans, Haolam, Mehadrin, “The Good Life Cheese” (check with your rabbi as not everyone accepts the certification on this brand), and some Israeli cheeses are kosher (Tnuva).  There are even some kosher French cheeses finding their way into the American Market (Ermitage, Royal).  From the UK is the Royal George brand that is quite good. Cabot cheese occasionally does a special kosher run of their cheddar.

Kosher grape juice

Kosher grape juice is rarely found in the ordinary juice section of your supermarket.  Try the kosher section.  Kedem brand grape juice is always kosher. The color of the juice (Red, White, Golden, Blush) is not important.

Kosher Wine

Kosher wine is a bit hard to find.  Although many stores now carry Manechevitz and Baron Herzog.  Only serve Mevushal wine (says this somewhere on the label).  You can find kosher wines online at Kosher Wines.com

Kosher beverages

Kosher beverages may be found at any supermarket.  Most sodas and seltzers (most Coke products (a few flavors may not be), all Adirondack seltzers, all Poland Spring seltzers) are kosher.  FYI  most juice mixes are NOT kosher.  The Sesame Street brand including Elmo, Big Bird, and Bert and Ernie, which is available at most Stop and Shop stores is kosher.   Minute Maid and Tropicana Orange Juice are kosher. So are some other Minute Maid juice mixes. Many 100% pure Apple Juices are Kosher, for example Mott’s.
